The Netherlands punches above its size in digital marketing: DEPT, now active on five continents, was founded in Amsterdam, and many mid-size Dutch agencies run campaigns across the Benelux and Germany in fluent English. This ranking is written for a company from the US, the UK, another EU country or the Nordics that wants to hire one of the marketing agencies in the Netherlands for performance marketing, B2B demand generation, media buying or a full-service digital partner. I kept 9 agencies and looked up each one’s KvK number, the Dutch Chamber of Commerce registration.
Marketing agencies in the Netherlands at a glance
If you only have a minute, these are the marketing agencies in the Netherlands I would shortlist as a foreign company, in the order I would contact them. Each is reviewed below, with its registry data on its company profile.
- DEPT – Amsterdam-founded global agency for technology, data, performance marketing and creative.
- Dapper – English-first B2B demand generation agency for SaaS, services and hardware.
- Adwise – Full-service digital agency with a strong search practice and a German office.
- Fingerspitz – Award-winning growth marketing agency for paid search, SEO, CRO and data.
- Happy Horizon – Dutch group of digital agencies for online marketing, e-commerce tech, branding and data.
- Abovo Maxlead – Media buying and performance marketing agency for the Netherlands and Belgium.
- Brandfirm – Performance agency running SEO, GEO, paid search and paid social together.
- Orange Bird – B2B marketing agency for cleantech and sustainability companies.
- Whello – Growth agency combining brand, website and paid campaigns for scale-ups.
How I ranked the marketing agencies in the Netherlands
I ranked the marketing agencies in the Netherlands by quality first, fit for a foreign client second and price third:
- Track record – named clients, awards such as the Emerce100 and Dutch Search Awards, and years on the market.
- Reviews – only three agencies have Clutch profiles with reviews, so I say clearly where there are no usable reviews and which other signal I relied on. I did not use review widgets that agencies show on their own sites.
- Fit for a foreign client – English-language service, offices or campaigns outside the Netherlands, and experience with foreign clients.
- Price – Clutch hourly rates and minimum project sizes where they exist.
- Registration and ownership – every agency is registered and headquartered in the Netherlands. I give the KvK number of the Dutch company you would contract with, say when that company has a different name from the brand, and note group or investor ownership where it is stated or reported.
I left out Dutch offices of foreign agency networks and Dutch agencies whose contracting entity I could not match to a KvK registration. If you can work with a team outside the Netherlands, see the same list for Poland, where rates are lower.
The 9 best marketing agencies in the Netherlands, reviewed
Every marketing agency in the Netherlands below gets the same treatment: who they are, what clients say, the facts that matter when you hire, and my opinion on who should – and should not – work with them.
1. DEPT
Amsterdam-founded global agency for technology, data, performance marketing and creative
DEPT is a digital agency group founded in Amsterdam in 2015 that combines platform and technology builds, data, performance media, SEO and creative, and now has more than 30 offices on five continents. Several Dutch specialist agencies have been folded into it – Expand Online’s domain, for example, now redirects to dept.global. Its registered parent is a Dutch B.V. in Amsterdam – its privacy policy names Digital Agency Holding B.V., and the registry data I saw lists the same KvK number as Dept Holding B.V. – although Clutch now lists Boston as its headquarters. DEPT is reported in the press to be majority-owned by the US investor Carlyle; I have not re-verified that.
What clients say. Clutch: 4.8/5 from 34 reviews. Reviewers praise communication, flexibility, technical depth and quality; some report missed deadlines, delays and communication problems. Most projects on its profile are between $200,000 and $1 million, for clients such as Google, KFC, Philips, Audi and Patagonia.
Facts: founded 2015 · Amsterdam · 1,000–9,999 people · $150–199/h · minimum project $100,000 · English, Dutch.
My take: the obvious choice for an enterprise brand that wants one partner for platform, data and performance marketing in many countries – but at a $100,000 minimum it is not for smaller budgets. Best for: enterprise brands that want one partner for platform, data and performance marketing across many countries. Not for: SMEs and budgets below roughly $100,000.

2. Dapper
English-first B2B demand generation agency for SaaS, services and hardware
Dapper is a Rotterdam B2B demand-generation agency founded in 2019, with a second office in Lisbon. It provides content and creative, paid media on LinkedIn and Google, data and measurement, embedded demand teams and training, and says more than 100 B2B companies in Europe, the UK and the US have worked with it. Its website is fully in English. Note the legal entity: the company you contract with is Dapper Rhinos B.V., which trades as Dapper; the Lisbon team may sit in a separate Portuguese company.
What clients say. Clutch: 4.8/5 from 13 reviews. Reviewers praise quality, structured processes, proactive communication and timely delivery; some say team changes during a project hurt continuity, and cost is its lowest-scored category. Named clients include Logitech, Ultimaker, Xebia and Storyteq.
Facts: founded 2019 · Rotterdam · about 70 people · $50–99/h · minimum project $10,000 · English, Dutch.
My take: my first call for a B2B SaaS or tech company that wants pipeline in the EU, the UK or the US from an English-speaking team. Best for: B2B SaaS and tech companies that want an English-speaking demand-generation team for EU, UK and US pipeline. Not for: B2C, e-commerce or local SME marketing.

3. Adwise
Full-service digital agency with a strong search practice and a German office
Adwise was founded in 2005 in Twente and has offices in Almelo, Utrecht and Düsseldorf. It offers strategy, brand, digital marketing (search, social and marketplaces), development, data and an academy, with specialisations in digital commerce, B2B, recruitment marketing and international growth. It was ranked best large full-service agency in the Emerce100 2024, shows Emerce100 2026 and ISO 27001 badges, and Emerce reported a Dutch Search Awards win as best large agency. Its filed accounts show about 133 full-time equivalents.
What clients say. I found no Clutch profile, so there are no usable reviews. Its client list – VodafoneZiggo, SPAR Nederland, Xenos and Huuskes – and its Emerce100 rankings are the signals I relied on.
Facts: founded 2005 · Almelo · about 130 people · English, Dutch, German.
My take: the agency I would pick for selling into both the Netherlands and Germany, because it has its own Düsseldorf office. Best for: mid-size companies selling into the Netherlands and Germany that want marketing and tech from one agency. Not for: buyers who need native coverage of many markets outside the DACH region.

4. Fingerspitz
Award-winning growth marketing agency for paid search, SEO, CRO and data
Fingerspitz is a growth marketing agency started in Breda in 2011, with offices in Eindhoven and Rotterdam. It runs paid search, SEO, social, display and video, marketplaces and conversion optimisation, plus data and customer data platforms, marketing automation and creative. It is a Google Premier Partner and lists awards including Dutch Search Awards 2025, European Paid Media Awards 2025 and a Global Search Awards silver in 2025. Ownership: it is part of the Handpicked Agencies group of 11 Dutch agencies; the group does not disclose its owners on its site.
What clients say. I found no Clutch profile, so there are no usable reviews; I did not use the review widget on its own site. Its awards and named clients – Nespresso, Mammoet, Louwman, Bruynzeel Keukens and Achmea – are the strongest signals.
Facts: founded 2011 · Breda · about 40 people · English, Dutch.
My take: the strongest pure performance team in this list for paid search, with CRO and data on top. Best for: brands that want an award-winning paid search and performance team plus CRO and data. Not for: buyers who need native multilingual delivery in many markets.

5. Happy Horizon
Dutch group of digital agencies for online marketing, e-commerce tech, branding and data
Happy Horizon is a group of Dutch digital agencies with its holding registered in Eindhoven in 2016 and seven hubs, including Amsterdam, Utrecht, Tilburg, Arnhem, Nijmegen and The Hague. It covers paid search, SEO and CRO, social and programmatic, marketplaces, e-commerce and PIM development, branding and PR, and data and automation. Its terms list 21 Dutch operating companies, among them the former PauwR, Vertigo 6, Lemm & Ten Haaf and Iconic Studios. The holding reported 572 full-time equivalents in 2025; the company itself speaks of about 800 specialists.
What clients say. I found no Clutch profile, so there are no usable reviews. Named clients such as Shimano, Fontys Hogeschool, DELA and Pink Gellac, and the breadth of the group, are the signals I would weigh.
Facts: founded 2016 · Eindhoven · 570–800 people · English, Dutch.
My take: a one-stop Dutch group when you want marketing and e-commerce build capacity together – ask which of its companies will run your account. Best for: mid-size and large companies that want marketing plus build capacity from a single Dutch group. Not for: buyers who want a small senior boutique or one named team.

6. Abovo Maxlead
Media buying and performance marketing agency for the Netherlands and Belgium
Abovo Maxlead is a merged media and performance marketing agency formed from Abovo Media in Hoorn and Maxlead in Oegstgeest. It plans and buys online and offline media – search, social, display, video, audio, TV, radio, out-of-home and retail media – and also offers performance creative, data and tech, web development and recruitment marketing. It has offices in the Netherlands, Belgium and Slovakia and shows a B Corp logo. It calls itself the largest independent marketing and media agency in the Netherlands; that is its own claim. Note the legal entities: its terms name two contracting companies, Abovo Media B.V. and Maxlead Services B.V. (KvK 28107578, which I did not check separately), so ask which one signs.
What clients say. I found no Clutch profile, so there are no usable reviews. Its client list – Basic-Fit, Corendon, Sunweb, Lidl, KFC, Engie and GVB – is the strongest signal.
Facts: founded 1999 · Hoorn · about 225 people · English, Dutch.
My take: the choice when you need media buying, including TV, radio and out-of-home, and performance marketing in the Benelux from one agency. Best for: advertisers that want combined media buying and performance marketing in the Netherlands and Belgium. Not for: small advertisers or buyers who want a pure SEO or CRO specialist.

7. Brandfirm
Performance agency running SEO, GEO, paid search and paid social together
Brandfirm is an Amsterdam performance agency offering SEO and GEO, Google and Microsoft Ads, Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok ads, conversion optimisation, creative and UGC, and data and tracking (GA4, server-side). It has an explicit international growth offer for e-commerce and lead generation and a Dutch and English website. Its filed accounts show 37–47 full-time equivalents between 2022 and 2025.
What clients say. I found no Clutch profile, so there are no usable reviews; I did not use the Google rating shown on its own site. Named clients – Joolz, Fletcher Hotels, Elis Nederland and HelloFlex – are the signal I relied on.
Facts: founded 2012 · Amsterdam · about 40 people · English, Dutch.
My take: a good mid-size option for e-commerce or lead generation where paid and organic search should be run by one team. Best for: e-commerce and lead-generation companies that want paid and organic search run together by a mid-size team. Not for: brand-led campaigns that need big creative or above-the-line media.

8. Orange Bird
B2B marketing agency for cleantech and sustainability companies
Orange Bird is a small agency in Rijswijk, next to The Hague, that specialises in marketing for clean technology and sustainability companies: market research, brand strategy, web development, HubSpot, search, paid media, content and analyst relations. It describes a multinational team, lists further locations in London, Berlin and St. John’s in Canada, and works for clients in Europe and the Americas. The registry classes the Dutch company as a micro business, with seven full-time equivalents.
What clients say. Clutch: 5.0/5 from 13 reviews. Reviewers praise timely delivery, organisation, responsiveness and knowledge of cleantech markets; some want clearer updates on progress and budget lines. Named clients include Climeon, Rivus Batteries and Cascade Drives.
Facts: founded 2017 · Rijswijk (The Hague) · 10–49 people · $100–149/h · minimum project $5,000 · English, Dutch.
My take: the specialist I would hire for a cleantech or climate startup that needs English-language B2B positioning. Best for: cleantech and climate startups that need English-language B2B marketing and positioning. Not for: consumer brands or large-scale media buying.

9. Whello
Growth agency combining brand, website and paid campaigns for scale-ups
Whello is an Amsterdam growth agency working on brand strategy, web design and webshops, content and video, and campaigns across Google Ads, social, SEO and GEO and marketing automation. Its Clutch profile describes it as helping fast-growing brands in Europe and beyond, and it lists expat marketing as a sector. It also runs the SKIPP creative video label. Its own site dates the brand to 2016, while the registry data for the company is inconsistent, so I have left the founding year open.
What clients say. Whello has a Clutch profile but no reviews on it, so there are no usable reviews; I did not use the rating shown on its own site because its source is unclear. Named clients – Fastned, Keesing Technologies, HelloRider and CowManager – are the signal I relied on.
Facts: Amsterdam · about 40 people · $100–149/h · English, Dutch.
My take: a good fit for a scale-up that wants its brand, website and paid growth handled by one mid-size team. Best for: scale-ups that want branding, website and paid growth from one mid-size team. Not for: enterprises that need global media buying.

Quality, specialisation and what marketing agencies in the Netherlands charge
Only four of the marketing agencies in the Netherlands in this ranking publish rates, all on Clutch: DEPT lists $150–199 per hour with a $100,000 minimum, Orange Bird and Whello list $100–149 per hour (Orange Bird from $5,000), and Dapper lists $50–99 per hour with a $10,000 minimum. The others quote retainers or project fees after a briefing, and media-buying agencies such as Abovo Maxlead usually charge a fee on top of the media budget.
The main choice is between a global enterprise agency (DEPT), English-first B2B specialists (Dapper for demand generation, Orange Bird for cleantech), performance and search agencies (Fingerspitz, Brandfirm), full-service agencies with build capacity (Adwise, Happy Horizon), a Benelux media-buying agency (Abovo Maxlead) and a growth agency for scale-ups (Whello).
How to choose a marketing agency in the Netherlands
Choosing a marketing agency in the Netherlands starts with where your customers are: an agency that is excellent in Dutch and Flemish media may still need partners for Germany, France or the Nordics.
- Language – nearly all Dutch agencies work in English, and Dapper and Orange Bird work English-first. For campaigns in Dutch, ask for native copywriters, not translation.
- Who you contract with – several agencies here are groups or brands of a differently named B.V. Ask which entity signs, check it in the KvK Handelsregister (kvk.nl) and check its VAT number in the EU VIES database.
- VAT – in most cases a Dutch agency invoices B2B services to a business in another EU country without Dutch VAT under the reverse charge, and services to a business outside the EU generally carry no Dutch VAT either. Media bought on your behalf can be treated differently. This is not legal or tax advice.
- Currency and time zone – invoices are usually in euros, and the Netherlands is on Central European Time (CET).
- Ad accounts and data – make sure ad accounts, analytics and tracking are set up in your name, so you keep them if you change agency.
Also ask the marketing agency in the Netherlands which people will run your account and how often they report on leads, sales or pipeline rather than clicks.
Marketing agencies in the Netherlands: FAQ
The questions foreign companies ask most before hiring marketing agencies in the Netherlands.
Do marketing agencies in the Netherlands work in English?
Yes, marketing agencies in the Netherlands almost always work in English with foreign clients. Dapper and Orange Bird present themselves fully in English and work mainly for international B2B clients.
How much do marketing agencies in the Netherlands charge?
Marketing agencies in the Netherlands in this ranking charge $50–99 per hour (Dapper) to $150–199 per hour (DEPT), according to Clutch. The other five do not publish rates and quote retainers or project fees after a briefing.
Do marketing agencies in the Netherlands charge Dutch VAT to foreign clients?
No, in most cases marketing agencies in the Netherlands do not charge Dutch VAT on B2B services to a business in another EU country, because the reverse charge applies, and services to a business outside the EU are generally outside Dutch VAT too. Check your own situation, especially for media bought on your behalf, with a tax adviser – this is not tax advice.
Which marketing agency in the Netherlands is best for B2B?
The marketing agency in the Netherlands I would choose for B2B is Dapper for SaaS and tech demand generation, and Orange Bird for cleantech and sustainability companies. Adwise also has a B2B specialisation for companies selling into the Netherlands and Germany.
My verdict: which marketing agency in the Netherlands to hire
Choosing among marketing agencies in the Netherlands depends on your size and goal. For an enterprise programme across many countries, hire DEPT. For B2B pipeline in the EU, the UK or the US, hire Dapper. For the Netherlands plus Germany, hire Adwise. For paid search and performance, hire Fingerspitz. For media buying in the Benelux, hire Abovo Maxlead.
Whichever marketing agency in the Netherlands you choose, keep the ad accounts and data in your own name and check which B.V. you sign with.
