Germany is Europe’s largest manufacturing country, and its contract manufacturers are known for engineering depth, strict quality systems and long product lifecycles – usually at a higher price than Central and Eastern Europe. This ranking is for a company from the US, the UK, the Nordics or elsewhere in the EU that is looking for contract manufacturers in Germany – an OEM, private-label or EMS partner that builds your product to your specification. I am Adrian Dąbrowiecki, an SEO consultant in Wrocław, and I research and write every ranking on this site myself. I kept seven companies, all registered and headquartered in Germany.
Contract manufacturers in Germany at a glance
If you only have a minute, these are the contract manufacturers in Germany I would shortlist as a foreign brand, in the order I would contact them. Each is reviewed below, with its commercial register data on its company profile.
- Zollner Elektronik – Family-owned German EMS group for complex electronic and mechatronic systems.
- Vetter Pharma – Independent family-owned CDMO for aseptic fill and finish of injectables.
- TQ-Group – E²MS provider that develops and builds electronics and mechanics.
- Röchling Medical – Cleanroom moulding of pharma packaging and medical device components.
- HERMES PHARMA – Effervescent, chewable and instant oral dosage forms for pharma and supplement brands.
- Dalli Group – Private-label and contract manufacturing of detergents, cleaners and cosmetics.
- Schwan Cosmetics – Developer and manufacturer of colour cosmetics for beauty brands.
How I ranked the contract manufacturers in Germany
I ranked the contract manufacturers in Germany by how well they suit a foreign brand that wants to outsource production, not by size alone:
- Certifications – the quality systems each company lists, such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485, EN 9100, IRIS, GMP or Nadcap. I only name certificates the company states, and I say where I could not find them.
- Specialisation – a clear sector and process focus, such as EMS, aseptic fill and finish or private-label detergents, beats a vague promise to make anything.
- Scale and reach – plants, headcount and international sites, which matter if you need capacity or a second source.
- Transparency – register data, published figures and ownership.
- Reviews – none of these companies has usable Clutch or Google reviews, which is normal in manufacturing, so I name the strongest other signal for each.
Only companies registered and headquartered in Germany are included, and I took each one’s register entry from its legal notice (Impressum). I left out German plants owned by foreign groups, and the EMS provider BMK Group, which is merging with the Swedish HANZA. Revenue figures are mentioned in the text with their source.
The 7 best contract manufacturers in Germany, reviewed
Every contract manufacturer in Germany below gets the same treatment: what it makes, what it lists in certifications, the facts that matter when you outsource production, and my opinion on who should – and should not – work with it.
1. Zollner Elektronik
Family-owned German EMS group for complex electronic and mechatronic systems
Zollner was founded in 1965 by Manfred Zollner Sr. as a one-man business in Zandt, Bavaria, and has grown into one of Europe’s largest EMS providers, with 26 locations worldwide, including Hungary, Thailand, Costa Rica and India. It covers R&D, engineering and NPI, production, analysis and materials technology, supply chain, obsolescence and compliance management, and after-sales service. Its customers are in automotive, rail, data technology, healthcare and life sciences, industrial electronics, aerospace and defence, and test and measurement, and its site in Altenmarkt is Nadcap-accredited. Its homepage describes it as 100% family-owned, and members of the Zollner family sit on its board.
What clients say. No usable reviews – like most contract manufacturers, it has no Clutch or Google review numbers worth quoting. The strongest other signal is its 60-year track record and scale: Evertiq put its headcount at more than 13,000 in July 2025, against about 12,500 on its own homepage. Apart from Nadcap, the pages I read did not list its quality certificates, so ask for ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IATF 16949 or EN 9100 as your sector requires.
Facts: founded 1965 · Zandt · about 12,500 people · German, English.
My take: my first call in Germany for a complex electronic or mechatronic system that needs a family-owned partner with plants on several continents. Best for: industrial, medical, rail and aerospace OEMs that want a German-owned EMS partner with global plants for complex systems and long product lifecycles. Not for: start-ups with small, price-driven PCB assembly runs.

2. Vetter Pharma
Independent family-owned CDMO for aseptic fill and finish of injectables
Vetter is an independent family business from Ravensburg with 76 years of experience, and one of the leading global CDMOs for aseptic filling of syringes, cartridges and vials. Its services cover drug product development, aseptic filling and visual inspection, device assembly and packaging, and analytical and regulatory support. It employs more than 7,400 people at sites in Germany, Austria, the US (Chicago area) and Asia-Pacific.
What clients say. No usable reviews. The strongest other signal is scale: its homepage reports EUR 1.26 billion of sales in 2025 from aseptic filling services. I did not see FDA or EMA approvals named on the page I read, so ask for its inspection history.
Facts: Ravensburg · 7,400+ people · German, English.
My take: the specialist to call for clinical-to-commercial fill and finish of an injectable drug. Best for: pharma and biotech companies that need clinical-to-commercial aseptic fill and finish of injectable drugs. Not for: food supplements, cosmetics or oral solid dose products.

3. TQ-Group
E²MS provider that develops and builds electronics and mechanics
TQ-Group, operating as TQ-Systems GmbH from Gut Delling in Seefeld near Munich, sells its TQ-E²MS offer: electronics development, manufacturing, validation, supply chain management and mechanics for customers’ products. It has sites in Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, China (Shanghai) and the US, and serves drive technology, e-mobility, energy, building and industrial automation, IoT, aerospace, medical technology, robotics, maritime and transportation customers. It lists ISO 9001/EN 9100, ISO 14001 and ISO 13485, and recently obtained IRIS certification for rail.
What clients say. No usable reviews. The strongest other signal is its certification set, which covers aerospace (EN 9100), medical (ISO 13485) and rail (IRIS). Its site does not state its ownership, headcount or revenue, so ask for them if your supplier approval needs them.
Facts: Seefeld (near Munich) · German, English.
My take: the partner I would pick when you want one company to develop your electronics and then build them, especially for aerospace, medical or rail. Best for: industrial, medical and aerospace OEMs that want one partner to develop and build electronics and assemblies. Not for: pure build-to-print commodity PCB assembly at the lowest cost.

4. Röchling Medical
Cleanroom moulding of pharma packaging and medical device components
Röchling Medical is the medical division of the family-owned Röchling group from Mannheim. It designs and makes customised pharmaceutical packaging, drug delivery devices, diagnostic consumables and medical device components, with in-house toolmaking for custom injection moulds. It processes plastics and metals in cleanrooms up to ISO 7 / Pharma GMP C and states MDR compliance. It runs three plants in Germany – Brensbach, Neuhaus am Rennweg and Waldachtal – plus Lancaster and Rochester in the US and Suzhou in China.
What clients say. No usable reviews. The strongest other signal is the group’s published results: for 2025 the Röchling group reported EUR 2,547 million of sales and 11,401 employees, with EUR 219 million, down on the year, from the Medical division, according to polyformnext.de. The register data on its profile belongs to the group parent, Röchling SE & Co. KG; the medical plants are run by separate subsidiaries, so check which entity signs your contract. ISO 13485 was not named on the page I read.
Facts: Mannheim (group HQ) · German, English.
My take: the strongest choice here for injection-moulded pharma and medtech components when you want the tooling made in-house. Best for: pharma, diagnostics and medtech companies that need cleanroom injection moulding and assembly of device components, with tooling in-house. Not for: consumer plastics or small, low-spec runs.

5. HERMES PHARMA
Effervescent, chewable and instant oral dosage forms for pharma and supplement brands
HERMES PHARMA develops and manufactures user-friendly oral dosage forms for pharma and food-supplement brands: effervescent and chewable tablets, instant drinks, orally disintegrating granules and lozenges. It works as a one-stop shop from formulation to packed product, manufactures to GMP and has more than 40 years of experience in these forms. Its site calls it a sister company of HERMES Arzneimittel; I did not verify its ultimate ownership.
What clients say. No usable reviews. The strongest other signal is its narrow specialisation and an EcoVadis silver medal (2025). MOQs, capacity and plant locations are not stated on its site, so ask for them early.
Facts: Pullach (Munich) · German, English.
My take: the specialist I would call to launch an effervescent tablet, a chewable or an instant drink. Best for: supplement and OTC brands launching effervescent tablets, chewables, granules or instant drinks. Not for: capsule- or softgel-only projects and cosmetics.

6. Dalli Group
Private-label and contract manufacturing of detergents, cleaners and cosmetics
Dalli Group from Stolberg describes itself as a specialist in developing and integrating private labels across Europe, and offers contract manufacturing of cosmetics, detergents and cleaning products, from development to filling bulk or finished goods. Its group companies WIN Cosmetic (Flörsheim-Dalsheim) and WIN Aerosol (Westerburg) make cosmetics and aerosols in Germany, and detergents are also made at two plants in Heerde and Hoensbroek in the Netherlands. It recently completed the purchase of the Italian contract manufacturer Farmol.
What clients say. No usable reviews. The strongest other signal is its private-label focus and its five plants in Germany and the Netherlands. Its site does not state certifications, revenue or ownership, so ask which certificates each plant holds.
Facts: Stolberg · German, English, Dutch.
My take: a strong option for a retailer or brand that needs private-label detergents, cleaners, personal care or aerosols at scale. Best for: retailers and brands that need private-label detergents, household cleaners, personal care and aerosols at scale. Not for: small indie beauty brands with low volumes.

7. Schwan Cosmetics
Developer and manufacturer of colour cosmetics for beauty brands
Schwan Cosmetics is the cosmetics arm of the Schwan-STABILO group from Heroldsberg. It develops and manufactures colour cosmetics, such as pencils, liners and lip products, for other beauty brands; recent launches include the Lifter Liner lip product and the META-INK PrimeLiner liquid eyeliner. It cites a quality commitment going back to 1927.
What clients say. No usable reviews. The strongest other signal is its EcoVadis rating, which puts it in the top 1% of rated companies. Its site does not state ISO 22716, headcount or plant locations, so ask for them.
Facts: Heroldsberg · German, English.
My take: the specialist to call if you want pencils, liners or other colour cosmetics developed and made for your brand. Best for: international beauty brands that want outsourced development and manufacturing of pencils, liners and other colour cosmetics. Not for: skincare, haircare or household products.

Quality, specialisation and what contract manufacturers in Germany charge
None of the contract manufacturers in Germany in this ranking publishes prices. Every quote depends on your volumes, materials, tooling, validation and regulatory requirements, so expect to send a specification and receive a quote per unit, often with separate costs for tooling, development or validation batches.
By sector, the seven split like this:
- EMS and electronics – Zollner Elektronik for complex systems at scale, and TQ-Group for development plus manufacturing.
- Plastics – Röchling Medical for cleanroom injection moulding of pharma and medtech components.
- Cosmetics and household – Dalli Group for private-label detergents, cleaners, personal care and aerosols, and Schwan Cosmetics for colour cosmetics.
- Food and supplements – HERMES PHARMA for effervescent, chewable and instant formats.
- Pharma CDMO – Vetter Pharma for aseptic fill and finish of injectables, and HERMES PHARMA for oral OTC forms.
- Aerospace – Zollner Elektronik, whose Altenmarkt site is Nadcap-accredited, and TQ-Group, which lists EN 9100.
I did not include a dedicated metal contract manufacturer in this first version; TQ-Group covers mechanics as part of its E²MS offer.
How to choose a contract manufacturer in Germany
Choosing a contract manufacturer in Germany starts with the certificate your market requires, then a check of how the factory actually works. Before you sign, go through these points:
- Certifications – ISO 9001 as a minimum, ISO 13485 for medical devices, IATF 16949 for automotive, EN 9100 or AS9100 for aerospace, GMP for pharma and cosmetics (ISO 22716), and IFS for food and household products. Ask for the certificate, its scope and its expiry date, not only a logo.
- Audits – visit the plant or send an auditor before production starts, and agree your right to audit in the contract; for pharma, ask for the plant’s regulatory inspection history.
- MOQ – ask for the minimum order quantity per variant and what it costs to go below it.
- Tooling ownership – put in writing that you own the moulds and fixtures you pay for, and that you can move them to another supplier.
- IP and NDA – sign an NDA before you send drawings or formulas, and make sure the contract assigns any improvements to your product to you.
- Incoterms – agree whether you buy EXW, FCA or DAP, so it is clear who pays freight and carries the risk.
- Lead times – get lead times for the first article, for tooling and for repeat orders, and ask how the factory handles component shortages.
If you buy EXW or FCA, you will also need someone to ship the finished goods; my ranking of logistics companies in Germany covers warehousing and transport partners.
