Best Link Building Agencies in Germany (2026): 7 Companies Reviewed

Germany has some of Europe’s strongest digital PR teams, and German media and trade sites are the links a brand entering the DACH market needs most. This ranking is written for a foreign SaaS or e-commerce company from the US, the UK, the Nordics or elsewhere in the EU that wants to hire one of the link building agencies in Germany. I am Adrian Dąbrowiecki, an SEO consultant in Wrocław, and I write every ranking on this site myself. I kept seven companies, all registered in the German commercial register (Handelsregister).

If you only have a minute, these are the link building agencies in Germany I would shortlist as a foreign company, in the order I would contact them. Backlinked is a marketplace rather than an agency.

  1. Claneo – Data-led digital PR that earns links from German national and trade media.
  2. Peak Ace – Large performance agency with an award-winning digital PR practice.
  3. eology – Content outreach, seeding and online PR next to SEO and SEA.
  4. suxeedo – Content-led seeding with influencers, organisations and authority media.
  5. Suchhelden – Owner-run SEO agency selling off-page work across DACH.
  6. Backlinked – Link marketplace with an optional managed campaign, focused on DACH.
  7. Löwenstark – Full-service online-marketing agency with an off-page SEO team.

I ranked the link building agencies in Germany by how the links are won first, by evidence of quality second and by price third. Three different models are sold as link building:

  • Managed outreach and digital PR – the agency pitches data stories, experts or content to journalists and site owners, who choose to link. You pay a retainer or a campaign fee. Claneo and Peak Ace are the clearest examples here.
  • Sponsored-article marketplaces – a catalogue of publishers selling articles with links; you pick the sites and pay per placement. Backlinked works this way, with an optional managed layer, and I describe it as a marketplace.
  • Link packs – a fixed number of links for a fixed price, often from networks of sites built to sell links. I did not include any seller of this kind.

Google’s spam policies treat links bought to pass ranking credit as link spam, and Google asks for paid links to be marked rel="sponsored". My view: links you earn with content and PR are safer than bought placements. That is why the digital PR agencies come first. I then looked at Clutch reviews where they exist, named clients and campaigns, register data and published prices.

Only companies registered and headquartered in Germany are included, so I left out Evergreen Media, which is Austrian, and Seeders, which is registered in the Netherlands. If you need full-service SEO rather than links alone, see my ranking of SEO agencies in Germany. Team sizes are the agencies’ own figures.

Every link building agency in Germany below gets the same treatment: what they sell, what clients say, the facts that matter when you buy, and my opinion on who should – and should not – work with them.

1. Claneo

Data-led digital PR that earns links from German national and trade media

Claneo is a Berlin SEO, GEO and content agency with a full digital PR unit. It runs data PR built on its own data, public statistics, scraping and representative surveys, as well as brand PR and regional PR. Campaigns usually run for about eight weeks, and retainers are available. It says it has in-house staff for more than ten languages and has run campaigns in Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, France, the UK and the US.

What clients say. Clutch: 4.9/5 from 5 reviews. Five reviews is a small sample; its published campaigns are the stronger signal – Bonial/kaufDA with 141 clippings and 116 backlinks, and Jacasa with 105 clippings including BILD and FAZ – although those counts are its own. Clients include HelloFresh, Henkel, Omio, Doctolib and Lieferando.

Facts: founded 2017 · Berlin · 80+ people · $100–149/h · minimum project $5,000 · German, English, French, Spanish, Italian.

My take: my first call for links you earn rather than buy – data campaigns that land in German national and trade media. Best for: brands that want earned links from German national and trade media through data-led campaigns, plus multi-market SEO. Not for: buyers who want a set number of links per month or have a small budget.

2. Peak Ace

Large performance agency with an award-winning digital PR practice

Peak Ace is a Berlin performance-marketing agency offering SEO, paid media and digital PR, with further offices in Paris and Nantes. It says it runs campaigns in more than 25 languages for more than 200 clients, and it has won many European Search Awards and Global Search Awards. Its own homepage does not describe its PR methods; a third-party ranking describes its campaigns as research-led. Peak Ace says it is part of the heroiks group – I did not check who owns that group.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews for Peak Ace. Its industry awards and clients such as Airbnb, AutoScout24, Otto, freenet, SharkNinja and Sage are the strongest signals.

Facts: founded 2007 · Berlin · 130+ people · German, English, French.

My take: the agency I would brief for digital PR in many European languages at enterprise scale. Best for: enterprise brands that want digital PR and SEO in many European languages from one large agency. Not for: SMEs and small link-building budgets.

3. eology

Content outreach, seeding and online PR next to SEO and SEA

eology is a Bavarian online-marketing agency with offices in Volkach, Würzburg and Hamburg. Its Content Outreach unit handles online PR, content seeding, influencer marketing and link marketing, next to SEO, SEA and in-house content creation, and it holds BVDW certificates for SEO and SEA. A third-party ranking describes it as a specialist in manual outreach for niche, on-topic German placements; I could not confirm the method on eology’s own link-building page, so ask it to show you how the work is done.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews for eology’s outreach work. Named clients such as ZF Friedrichshafen, Telekom, EDEKA, Knauf, Decathlon and About You are the strongest signal.

Facts: founded 2010 · Volkach · ~100 people · German, English.

My take: a solid choice for German-language seeding and outreach that sits next to your content and SEO work. Best for: companies that want German-language seeding and outreach on top of content and SEO work. Not for: buyers who want international, multi-language campaigns.

4. suxeedo

Content-led seeding with influencers, organisations and authority media

suxeedo is a Berlin content-marketing and SEO agency with an office in Hannover. Its seeding service works with influencers, organisations and authority media to earn backlinks, reach and PR effects, and it also offers digital PR, GEO, B2B marketing and SEA. It says it has completed more than 1,000 projects. Its site gives little detail on outreach methods or link counts.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews for suxeedo’s seeding work. Client logos on its site – among them Otto, HubSpot, AutoScout24, Zalando and Zeiss – are the strongest signal, though they are self-reported.

Facts: founded 2011 · Berlin · 40+ people · German, English.

My take: a good fit if you want seeding in German media to come out of the same team that makes your content. Best for: brands that want content-led seeding in German media combined with content marketing. Not for: buyers who want clear link counts or pure link building.

5. Suchhelden

Owner-run SEO agency selling off-page work across DACH

Suchhelden is an owner-run SEO agency from Osnabrück with offices in Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Munich. It sells off-page work – link building, digital PR and brand mentions – both as a standalone service and inside its ongoing SEO plans, and says it uses no subcontractors. It says it has served more than 1,000 clients since 2012 and covers Austria and Switzerland through its own local sites. It does not describe its link-building methods or metrics.

What clients say. I found no review figures I could check: the site shows Google, OMR Reviews and ProvenExpert scores that I did not verify on those platforms. Its size and owner-run, no-subcontractor model are the strongest signals; ask for sample placements before you sign.

Facts: Osnabrück · 140+ people · German, English.

My take: a sensible option for a DACH company that wants links as one part of ongoing German SEO. Best for: DACH SMEs and mid-market firms that want link building as part of ongoing German SEO. Not for: international campaigns outside DACH, or buyers who need transparent methods up front.

6. Backlinked

Link marketplace with an optional managed campaign, focused on DACH

Backlinked is a link marketplace, not a classic agency. Run from Bonn by Pixelrein GmbH & Co. KG, it lets you buy backlinks and content in a self-serve dashboard that it says covers more than 100,000 international websites, or have monthly campaigns run for you and approved in the same account. It started as an SEO agency around 2015, focuses on DACH and claims more than 3,000 clients and 60,000 published articles. It does not describe how it vets publishers, so most links here are paid placements whose quality depends on the sites chosen.

What clients say. The Semrush agency directory shows 4.7/5 from 52 reviews, which is the only review count I found; I did not check those reviews one by one.

Facts: founded 2015 · Bonn · ~15 people · German, English.

My take: the option for paid German placements when you want the choice between self-serve and a managed campaign. Best for: DACH SMEs that want paid German placements with the option of a managed campaign. Not for: buyers who want earned media or digital PR.

7. Löwenstark

Full-service online-marketing agency with an off-page SEO team

Löwenstark is a full-service online-marketing agency in Braunschweig and part of the Löwenstark Digital Group, with an off-page SEO team. Its link-building page covers linkable content, guest posting, expert collaborations, partner links, quality directories, and link-profile monitoring and disavow work, and it warns against link networks and bought links. The page reads more like an explainer than a service description, so ask for examples.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews: the page shows a Google 5.0 badge with no review count. Its stated stance against link networks and bought links is the strongest signal, but it is self-reported.

Facts: founded 2001 · Braunschweig · 100+ people · German.

My take: a reasonable pick for a German SME that wants link building bundled with wider SEO and SEA from one agency. Best for: German SMEs that want link building bundled with broader SEO and SEA. Not for: specialist digital PR or international outreach.

Link building agencies in Germany rarely publish prices. Claneo is the only one in this ranking with rates on Clutch – $100–149 an hour and a minimum project of $5,000 – and the others quote after a briefing. Digital PR is usually sold per campaign or on a retainer; a marketplace such as Backlinked charges per placement. A price per link looks cheaper, but a PR campaign pays for coverage on sites that would never sell you a link.

On specialisation: Claneo and Peak Ace run data-led digital PR, eology and suxeedo focus on German seeding and outreach alongside content, Suchhelden and Löwenstark sell links inside wider SEO work, and Backlinked sells paid placements with the option of a managed campaign.

Choosing a link building agency in Germany starts with asking for proof. Before you sign, check:

  • Sample placements – ask for recent live links or press coverage in your niche, not a list of domain ratings.
  • Real traffic – check that each site has real organic traffic and German readers; DR alone is easy to inflate.
  • No PBNs – ask whether any sites belong to the agency, its partners or a network built to sell links.
  • Reporting – you should get every live URL, the date, the anchor and the link attribute, and approve sites before they go live.
  • Price per link vs retainer – compare what a month or a campaign delivers, not only the price per link.
  • Language and market – make sure the sites match your market: German for Germany, and Austrian or Swiss media if those countries matter to you.

The questions foreign companies ask most before hiring link building agencies in Germany.

Do link building agencies in Germany work in English?

Yes, most link building agencies in Germany that serve foreign clients work in English, and six of the seven in this ranking list English. Löwenstark works in German only, and Claneo and Peak Ace also run campaigns in other European languages.

Are paid links from link building agencies in Germany against Google’s rules?

Yes, paid links that pass ranking credit break Google’s link spam policies unless they are marked rel="sponsored" or nofollow. Earned links from digital PR do not have this problem, which is one reason I rank PR agencies first.

How much do link building agencies in Germany charge?

Link building agencies in Germany mostly quote per campaign or retainer after a briefing. Claneo lists $100–149 an hour and a $5,000 minimum on Clutch; the other agencies in this ranking do not publish rates.

What is the difference between digital PR and link building in Germany?

The difference between digital PR and link building in Germany is mainly how the link is won. Digital PR earns coverage and links from journalists with a story or data; classic link building often means outreach to site owners or buying placements, which should then be labelled as sponsored.

Choosing among link building agencies in Germany depends on what you want to buy. For earned links from German national and trade media, hire Claneo. For digital PR in many European languages at enterprise scale, hire Peak Ace. For German seeding and outreach next to content work, hire eology or suxeedo. If you only want paid German placements, use Backlinked and vet every site yourself.

Whichever link building agency in Germany you choose, ask for a first campaign with clear success criteria before you sign a long retainer.
