Stockholm is one of Europe’s biggest tech hubs, and Swedish developers and IT specialists usually work in English every day, which makes Sweden attractive for foreign companies that hire there or bring in Swedish consultants. This ranking is written for a company from the US, the UK, another EU country or the rest of the Nordics that wants to use IT recruitment agencies in Sweden – for a permanent hire, an IT consultant or a whole team. I kept 5 agencies, all registered and headquartered in Sweden, and checked each one’s organisation number (org.nr) and, where I could read them, its filed accounts on allabolag.se, which republishes Bolagsverket data.

How I ranked the IT recruitment agencies in Sweden
I ranked the IT recruitment agencies in Sweden by quality first, fit for a foreign client second and price third:
- Model – recruiters for permanent hires (Wise IT, Grooo, Amendo), staffing of young professionals and consultants (Academic Work) and consultant sourcing for large clients (Ework Group).
- IT focus – Wise IT and Grooo work mainly on IT and tech roles; Amendo combines IT with finance, and Academic Work and Ework Group cover IT among other areas.
- Scale and accounts – Swedish annual accounts are public, so I quote turnover, result and employees where the research recorded them with a year. Figures are for the named Swedish company, not the whole group.
- Reviews – none of these five has a Clutch or Google review sample I could use, so for each I name the strongest other signal, usually named clients.
- Ownership – I disclose what I found: Academic Work belongs to the Akind group, Grooo to its founder’s holding company, Wise IT to Wise Group and Amendo to a Swedish holding company, while Ework Group is a public company.
- Registration – every agency is registered and headquartered in Sweden.
The list includes only firms registered and headquartered in Sweden. I left out the Swedish offices of foreign staffing groups – for example Experis, part of the US ManpowerGroup, and Randstad, which is Dutch.
The 5 best IT recruitment agencies in Sweden, reviewed
Every IT recruitment agency in Sweden below gets the same treatment: who they are, what clients say, the facts that matter when you hire, and my opinion on who should – and should not – work with them.
1. Wise IT
Specialist IT recruitment and IT-consultant arm of the Swedish Wise Group
Wise IT recruits permanent IT specialists and IT leaders, places IT consultants on short and long assignments and advises on IT-skills needs. It also runs Tech Agent, a programme that trains service-minded people for IT support roles. It has offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö and says it has placed more than 2,500 IT specialists and served more than 1,250 customers since 2011. The business is split between two Swedish companies: Wise IT AB, the recruitment company, reported turnover of SEK 37.0m for 2025 with 21 employees and a small loss, and the consultant business in Wise IT Konsult AB reported SEK 140.1m. Both belong to the Swedish Wise Group AB; I did not check who owns the parent.
What clients say. No usable Clutch or Google review sample was checked for this ranking, so I give no rating. Its client list is the strongest signal: Handelsbanken, Peab, Gunnebo, Specsavers, Cambio, TRUMPF and Avinode.
Facts: founded 2013 · Stockholm (also Gothenburg and Malmö) · English, Swedish.
My take: my first call for an IT manager, infrastructure or service-desk hire in Sweden, permanent or as a consultant. Best for: companies hiring IT managers, infrastructure and service-desk staff in Sweden, permanently or as consultants. Not for: hiring developers outside Sweden.

2. Grooo
Stockholm recruitment partner for tech scale-ups such as Spotify, Epidemic Sound and Voi
Grooo is a small Stockholm recruitment firm that handles urgent hires, builds recruitment structures and runs long-term recruitment partnerships, mostly for tech and growth companies. Its client list reads like a who’s who of Stockholm tech: Spotify, Epidemic Sound, Embark Studios, Neko Health, Avanza, King, Voi, Detectify, Sana and Ingrid Capacity. Grooo AB reported turnover of SEK 15.5m for the financial year to August 2025 with 12 employees. Its parent is the founder’s holding company, Anders Achilles Holding AB. Its website is in Swedish only, so I could not confirm an English-language service, although its clients work largely in English.
What clients say. No usable Clutch or Google review sample was checked for this ranking, so I give no rating. Its named scale-up clients are the strongest signal.
Facts: Stockholm · 12 people · Swedish.
My take: the recruiter I would brief if I were a foreign tech company building a team in Stockholm. Best for: tech scale-ups and foreign tech companies building teams in Stockholm. Not for: high-volume staffing or temporary work.

3. Academic Work
Large Swedish staffing and recruitment company for young professionals, including IT
Academic Work is a staffing and recruitment company founded in Stockholm in 1998 by three fellow students. It focuses on students and young professionals, with IT among its specialist areas, and works in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Ownership: since 2022 it has been part of Akind, a group of sister companies with more than 1,000 employees and about EUR 300m turnover, led by co-founder Johan Skarborg; its Swedish parent is Academic Work Group AB, and I did not read Akind’s shareholder structure. Academic Work Sweden AB reported turnover of SEK 873m for 2025; allabolag shows 138 employees, which probably excludes the consultants it places. IT is one of several areas, so it is a generalist rather than a tech-only recruiter.
What clients say. No usable Clutch or Google review sample was checked for this ranking, so I give no rating. Its scale in Sweden – SEK 873m turnover – and nearly three decades in graduate and young-professional staffing are the signals.
Facts: founded 1998 · Stockholm / Linköping · English, Swedish.
My take: a good fit when you need several junior or mid-level IT people or consultants in Sweden quickly. Best for: volume hiring of junior and mid-level IT talent and consultants in Sweden. Not for: senior executive search.

4. Amendo
Recruitment, interim and consultant firm for finance, banking, insurance and IT
Amendo is a Stockholm recruitment and consulting firm that has worked since 2001 in finance, banking, insurance, IT and tech. It offers recruitment, executive search, interim management and consultants, and its website has a separate IT and tech area. Clients include SEB, Handelsbanken, Swedbank, Länsförsäkringar, Euroclear and Carnegie. Amendo Konsult & Rekrytering AB reported turnover of SEK 91.6m for 2025 with 98 employees and a small loss; its parent is the Swedish Amendo Holding 2 AB.
What clients say. No usable Clutch or Google review sample was checked for this ranking, so I give no rating. Its list of Swedish banks and insurers is the strongest signal.
Facts: founded 2001 · Stockholm (also Gothenburg and Örnsköldsvik) · 98 people · English, Swedish.
My take: the specialist I would use for IT or finance hires at a bank, insurer or fintech in Sweden. Best for: fintech and financial-sector companies hiring IT and finance specialists in Sweden. Not for: high-volume developer hiring outside finance.

5. Ework Group
Public Swedish company that sources and manages IT consultants for large clients
Ework Group is a Stockholm public limited company (AB publ) registered in 2000 that describes itself as an independent talent provider: it connects organisations with independent professionals, mainly for digitalisation and strategic development, and says it is “not limited to our own workforce or a fixed supplier base”. Its website lists Talent Services, Project Services and a Managed Service Provider offer for companies that want to manage their whole external workforce through one vendor. It says it works in 9 European countries, has more than 240,000 independent professionals in a network spanning 25 countries and 36,000 partner companies, and has more than 25 years of experience; it also states net sales of EUR 1,374m without giving the period. Allabolag shows 100–199 employees in the parent company and seven subsidiaries, including a Polish company, Ework Group Sp. z o.o. Its website has investor-relations and share pages but does not name the exchange, and I quote no revenue on its profile because the figure shown on allabolag was unclear.
What clients say. No usable Clutch or Google review sample was checked for this ranking, and its website names no clients, so I give no rating. The size of its consultant network and its status as a public company are the signals.
Facts: founded 2000 · Stockholm · 100–199 people · English, Swedish.
My take: worth a call when you need many IT consultants under one contract rather than a single permanent hire. Best for: large companies that want one vendor to source, contract and manage many IT consultants in the Nordics. Not for: permanent hires or buyers who want a fixed-scope project delivered by one team.

Quality, specialisation and what IT recruitment agencies in Sweden charge
None of the IT recruitment agencies in Sweden in this ranking publishes its fees. Recruiters for permanent roles usually charge a fee linked to the first-year salary, and consultant and staffing firms add a margin to the consultant’s hourly rate; ask for both in writing, together with the guarantee period if a hire leaves early. Fees are usually quoted in Swedish kronor (SEK), which floats against the euro. As a general observation, Swedish IT salaries and consultant rates are high by EU standards, and employer social contributions are paid on top of the salary, so budget for the full employment cost, not the salary alone.
The main choice is between a specialist IT recruiter with a consultant arm (Wise IT), a boutique recruiter for tech scale-ups (Grooo), a large staffing company for junior and mid-level talent (Academic Work), a finance and IT specialist (Amendo) and a consultant-sourcing company for large clients (Ework Group).
How to choose an IT recruitment agency in Sweden
Choosing an IT recruitment agency in Sweden starts with how you want to engage the person:
- Consultant – the fastest route. The agency or broker employs or contracts the consultant and invoices you, so you do not need a Swedish entity. Wise IT, Academic Work, Amendo and Ework Group all place consultants.
- Permanent hire in Sweden – Wise IT, Grooo and Amendo. To employ someone in Sweden you normally need a Swedish entity or registration as an employer with the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket), or an employer-of-record arrangement; check this before the search starts. This is not legal advice.
- Swedish employment terms – many Swedish workplaces are covered by collective agreements (kollektivavtal), and the Employment Protection Act (LAS) sets rules on notice and dismissal. Ask the agency what is customary in your sector; this is not legal advice.
- Language – English is excellent across Swedish tech, and many teams work in English. Grooo’s website is Swedish only, so confirm that the process and contract can be in English.
- Sector fit – Amendo for banks, insurers and fintech; Grooo for scale-ups; Wise IT for IT management, infrastructure and support.
Also check the paperwork when you hire an IT recruitment agency in Sweden. Look up the ten-digit organisation number (org.nr) at Bolagsverket, the Swedish Companies Registration Office (bolagsverket.se), or for free on allabolag.se, which shows directors, group structure and filed accounts. The Swedish VAT number is usually SE, the org.nr without the hyphen and 01; check it in the EU’s VIES database. On VAT, in most cases a recruitment or consultancy service to a VAT-registered business in another EU country is invoiced without Swedish VAT under the reverse charge, and a service to a business outside the EU is generally not subject to Swedish VAT; confirm with your adviser – this is not legal or tax advice. Sweden is on Central European Time (CET). For comparison, here is the same list for Poland, where rates are usually lower, and the same list for Denmark.
IT recruitment agencies in Sweden: FAQ
The questions foreign companies ask most before hiring IT recruitment agencies in Sweden.
Do IT recruitment agencies in Sweden work in English?
Yes, most IT recruitment agencies in Sweden work in English, and English is widely spoken in Swedish tech. Grooo’s website is in Swedish only, and I did not confirm English service for every agency, so ask for an English process and contract before you start.
Can I hire an IT consultant in Sweden without a Swedish company?
Yes, in most cases you can hire an IT consultant in Sweden without a Swedish company by going through an agency or consultant broker such as Wise IT, Academic Work or Ework Group, which contracts the consultant and invoices you. A permanent employee is different: you usually need a Swedish entity, employer registration or an employer of record. This is not legal advice.
How much do IT recruitment agencies in Sweden charge?
IT recruitment agencies in Sweden charge either a placement fee for permanent hires, usually linked to salary, or a margin on a consultant’s hourly rate, and none of the five in this ranking publishes its prices. Ask for the fee, the payment terms and the replacement guarantee in writing.
Which IT recruitment agency in Sweden is best for a tech start-up?
The best IT recruitment agency in Sweden for a tech start-up is, in my view, Grooo, a small Stockholm firm whose clients include Spotify, Epidemic Sound, Voi and Neko Health. If you need several junior developers or consultants at once, add Academic Work to the shortlist.
My verdict: which IT recruitment agency in Sweden to hire
Choosing among IT recruitment agencies in Sweden depends on how you want to engage people. For IT managers, infrastructure and support staff, permanent or as consultants, hire Wise IT. For a tech team in Stockholm, hire Grooo. For several junior or mid-level hires, hire Academic Work. For IT roles at a bank, insurer or fintech, hire Amendo. For many consultants under one contract, talk to Ework Group.
Whichever IT recruitment agency in Sweden you choose, look up its org.nr, confirm which company signs the contract and agree the fee and guarantee before the first candidate is presented.
