Best Logistics Companies in France (2026): 7 Companies Reviewed

Selling in France means getting goods into the country, through customs if they come from outside the EU, and then to French shops, warehouses or customers’ doors. This ranking is written for a company from the US, the UK, Germany or the Nordics that is comparing logistics companies in France for import and customs, road freight, contract warehousing, cold-chain food distribution or e-commerce fulfilment. I am Adrian, an SEO consultant in Wrocław, and I research and write every ranking on this site myself. I kept 7 companies and checked each one in the French company register.

Logistics companies in France at a glance

If you only have a minute, these are the logistics companies in France I would shortlist as a foreign company, in the order I would contact them. Each is reviewed below, with its registry data on its company profile.

  1. GEODIS – French global group for freight forwarding, customs, contract logistics and road transport.
  2. ID Logistics – French contract logistics group, strong in e-commerce and retail.
  3. FM Logistic – Family-founded French contract logistics group.
  4. STEF – European specialist in temperature-controlled food transport and logistics.
  5. Heppner – Independent French road groupage, sea and air freight group.
  6. DIMOTRANS Group – Lyon-based multimodal freight forwarder with in-house customs.
  7. e-LOGIK – French network of e-commerce fulfilment warehouses.

How I ranked the logistics companies in France

I ranked the logistics companies in France by quality and scale first, fit for a foreign shipper second and practical fit third:

  • Service fit – what each company actually does well: freight forwarding and customs, road groupage, contract warehousing, cold chain or e-commerce fulfilment.
  • Scale and track record – years on the market, sites, staff and published revenue. Where a figure is a group total rather than one company’s accounts, I say so.
  • Reviews – none of the seven has usable reviews on Clutch or Google, which is normal for B2B logistics, so I name the strongest other signal for each.
  • Fit for foreign clients – English-language service, international networks and experience with imports into France.
  • Registration and ownership – every company is registered in France and headquartered there. I checked each SIREN, legal form, status and management in the official register, and I disclose ownership where I found it: GEODIS belongs to the SNCF group, ID Logistics is listed, and part of STEF’s capital is held by employees.

I left out French offices of foreign groups such as XPO and GXO, CEVA Logistics and the former Bolloré Logistics, and French firms now owned from abroad – Bansard belongs to the US group SEKO and Clasquin to MSC. The Paris fulfilment start-up Cubyn has closed. I also dropped one e-commerce fulfilment company because I could not confirm the company registered behind its brand. Team sizes below are the companies’ own figures or INSEE headcount bands. If cost matters more than location, see the same list for Poland, where rates are lower.

The 7 best logistics companies in France, reviewed

Every logistics company in France below gets the same treatment: who they are, what the evidence says, the facts that matter when you hire, and my opinion on who should – and should not – work with them.

1. GEODIS

French global group for freight forwarding, customs, contract logistics and road transport

GEODIS is a French logistics group headquartered in Levallois-Perret, west of Paris, and part of the SNCF group, the French state railway company – SNCF executives sit on its supervisory board. It covers air and sea freight forwarding, customs, contract logistics (warehousing), distribution and express, and road transport in France and abroad, and it is one of the largest logistics groups in France. The company registered in 1954 is the legal entity, not the start of the GEODIS brand. Its Présidente du directoire is Marie-Christine Lombard. I could not load its group pages, so the service list is a summary rather than something I re-checked this month.

What clients say. I found no Clutch profile and no usable reviews, which is normal for freight and contract logistics. The strongest signal is its scale and breadth: one group for import, customs, warehousing and distribution across France and Europe. The published accounts of the parent company cover that company only and say nothing useful about the size of the group, so I do not quote them.

Facts: Levallois-Perret (Paris) · French, English.

My take: my first call when a foreign manufacturer or retailer wants one provider for import, customs clearance, warehousing and distribution across France. Best for: foreign manufacturers and retailers that need import, customs clearance, warehousing and French and European distribution at scale. Not for: small e-commerce brands that want a plug-and-play Shopify fulfilment service.

2. ID Logistics

French contract logistics group, strong in e-commerce and retail

ID Logistics is a contract logistics and transport group headquartered in Orgon, Provence, and listed on Euronext Paris. It runs warehouses for large manufacturers and retailers, with value-added services, supply chain optimisation, turnkey projects and dedicated e-commerce logistics, and it says it has about 30,000 employees. The founding year is the registry date of the holding company, ID LOGISTICS GROUP, which is chaired by Eric Hémar.

What clients say. I found no Clutch profile and no usable reviews. The strongest signal is its size: €3.74 billion of revenue in 2025, a figure that the register shows for the holding company and that looks like the consolidated group figure – the holding itself has only a small team.

Facts: founded 2001 · Orgon (Provence) · about 30,000 people · French, English.

My take: the group I would ask for a large dedicated or shared warehouse in France, especially for high-volume e-commerce. Best for: large brands and retailers outsourcing big dedicated or shared warehouses, including high-volume e-commerce, in France and abroad. Not for: small shippers with a few hundred orders a month.

3. FM Logistic

Family-founded French contract logistics group

FM Logistic is a logistics group founded in 1967 and headquartered in Phalsbourg, Lorraine, with about 27,500 employees and operations in 12 countries, including France, Poland, Spain, India, Vietnam and Brazil. It covers warehousing, co-packing, omnichannel logistics, transport, urban logistics, automation, international freight and supply-chain control-tower tools. It describes itself as built on family values, and Claude Faure is its honorary president; I did not see family ownership stated outright. The group holding, FM LOGISTIC CORPORATE, is led by Jean-Christophe Machet, and the French operating company, FM France, reported €604.6 million of revenue in 2024.

What clients say. I found no Clutch profile and no usable reviews. The strongest signals are almost 60 years on the market and its size: €1.87 billion of revenue in 2024 for the group holding, which looks like the consolidated group figure.

Facts: founded 1967 · Phalsbourg (Moselle) · about 27,500 people · French, English.

My take: a strong choice for FMCG, retail and industrial brands that want large-scale warehousing and co-packing in France and in Central and Eastern Europe from one group. Best for: FMCG, retail and industrial brands that need large-scale warehousing and co-packing in France and Central and Eastern Europe. Not for: start-ups that want self-serve e-commerce fulfilment.

4. STEF

European specialist in temperature-controlled food transport and logistics

STEF is a Paris-headquartered group specialised in temperature-controlled – chilled and frozen – food transport and logistics across Europe. The page I read on its site gave 242 sites, but it was dated, so the current count may differ. Part of its capital is held by employees under its long-standing entrepreneurial model, and one of its board members, Atlantique Management, is a management and employee holding company. The register lists Stanislas Lemor as its senior executive.

What clients say. I found no Clutch profile and no usable reviews. The strongest signal is its specialism and size: €5.12 billion of revenue in 2025 shown in the register for the parent company, which looks like the consolidated group figure.

Facts: Paris · French, English.

My take: the reference choice for a foreign food or drinks producer that needs cold-chain storage and delivery to French supermarkets and food service. Best for: foreign food, drinks and fresh-produce producers that need cold-chain storage and distribution to French retail and food service. Not for: ambient non-food goods or parcel e-commerce.

5. Heppner

Independent French road groupage, sea and air freight group

Heppner is an independent French transport and logistics group, nearly 100 years old, that runs groupage and full-load road transport across a European network of more than 40 countries, plus sea and air freight with partners in 157 countries. Its registered office moved to Hœrdt near Strasbourg in 2025. The operating company’s président is its parent holding, FINALTRA (Financière Alsacienne de Transport), whose ownership I did not check; Jean-Thomas Schmitt is directeur général. Heppner offers customs services, but I did not see them listed on the page I read.

What clients say. I found no Clutch profile and no usable reviews. The strongest signal is its published accounts: €700.6 million of revenue and €23.5 million net profit in 2024 for the operating company.

Facts: Hœrdt (Strasbourg) · 2,000–4,999 people · French, English.

My take: the one I would call for regular B2B road freight between France and the rest of Europe, with sea and air freight for overseas flows. Best for: foreign B2B shippers that need France-wide and European road groupage plus import and export freight. Not for: pure B2C e-commerce fulfilment.

6. DIMOTRANS Group

Lyon-based multimodal freight forwarder with in-house customs

DIMOTRANS is a multimodal transport group headquartered at Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport (Pusignan), with about 2,200 employees, 50 offices in France and partners in 160 countries. It handles international road, sea and air freight, national road transport, contract logistics for B2B and B2C, and customs, with specialities in event logistics, urgent aircraft parts (AOG) and oversized project cargo. It reported group sales of €663.4 million in 2024 on its website and bought the forwarder All Solutions in March 2025. The group is split across several companies, and I did not find out who owns the top holding, DIMOTRANS GROUP.

What clients say. I found no Clutch profile and no usable reviews. The strongest signal is its group sales of €663.4 million (its own figure); the register shows the accounts of the separate group companies, not the group total, so I do not quote them here.

Facts: Pusignan (Lyon) · about 2,200 people · French, English.

My take: a good mid-sized alternative to the big groups for a foreign company importing into France that wants customs, air, sea and road from one forwarder. Best for: foreign companies importing into France that want a mid-sized forwarder with in-house customs and both air and sea and road capability. Not for: brands looking for a Shopify-native fulfilment app.

7. e-LOGIK

French network of e-commerce fulfilment warehouses

e-LOGIK is a Toulouse e-commerce logistics network founded in 2008 that has done only e-commerce fulfilment since then. It links more than 30 independent warehouses in France and Switzerland, with more than 300,000 m² in total (its site also mentions 25 locations), through its own e-Kan platform. It offers storage, pick and pack, returns and transport management, more than 75 ready connectors – including Shopify, PrestaShop, WooCommerce, Magento, Amazon, Cdiscount and ManoMano – and more than 20 contracted carriers, among them DHL, UPS, FedEx and Swiss Post. Each warehouse is a separate company, and the head company reported no revenue of its own in 2024, so the network’s real turnover is not public.

What clients say. I found no Clutch profile and no usable reviews. Named clients on its site – Gérard Bertrand, Veolia, Karma cosmétiques, Moone and Hollis – and 18 years of e-commerce-only fulfilment are the strongest signals.

Facts: founded 2008 · Toulouse · French.

My take: the most practical pick here for a smaller online brand that wants French fulfilment with ready marketplace connectors – but expect to work in French. Best for: SME e-commerce brands that want regional French fulfilment with marketplace connectors. Not for: large B2B freight or pan-European multi-country warehousing.

Quality, specialisation and what logistics companies in France charge

None of the logistics companies in France in this ranking publishes prices. Freight is quoted per shipment, pallet or lane, warehousing per pallet or square metre plus handling, and e-commerce fulfilment per order, so ask for a quote on your real volumes and order profile. Quality matters more than the headline rate: a missed customs entry or a broken cold chain costs far more than the difference between two quotes.

The main split is between global and European groups that cover everything – GEODIS, ID Logistics and FM Logistic – specialists such as STEF for temperature-controlled food and Heppner and DIMOTRANS for road, sea and air freight with customs, and e-LOGIK for smaller e-commerce brands. Invoices are in euros. On VAT, B2B services that a French provider supplies to a business in another EU country are normally invoiced without French TVA under the reverse charge, and businesses outside the EU are also normally invoiced without French TVA – but some services, such as storage tied to a specific warehouse space, can follow different rules, so confirm the treatment in the quote.

How to choose a logistics company in France

Choosing a logistics company in France as a foreign shipper comes down to a few practical checks:

  • Customs – goods moving between EU countries need no customs clearance, but goods from the UK, the US or elsewhere outside the EU do. Ask whether the company clears customs in-house and who acts as importer of record. You will need an EORI number.
  • Import VAT – businesses registered for French VAT declare import VAT on their VAT return (autoliquidation) rather than paying it at the border. Check with your accountant how this applies to you before the first shipment.
  • Type of goods – chilled and frozen food needs a cold-chain specialist such as STEF. Large B2B flows suit GEODIS, FM Logistic or Heppner, while small e-commerce orders suit e-LOGIK.
  • Language – the large groups work in English, but French is the default in regional depots and smaller networks such as e-LOGIK. Ask who your day-to-day contact will be.
  • Check the company – look up the SIREN or name on annuaire-entreprises.data.gouv.fr. It shows the legal form, status, management and registered office, and for many companies the turnover from published accounts. Some file confidential accounts, and for groups the parent company’s figures may be either the whole group or only that one company.
  • Time zone – France works on CET (CEST in summer), the same as Germany and most of the Nordics, one hour ahead of the UK and six hours ahead of the US East Coast.

Logistics companies in France: FAQ

The questions foreign companies ask most before hiring logistics companies in France.

Do logistics companies in France work in English?

Yes, the large logistics companies in France, such as GEODIS, ID Logistics, FM Logistic and STEF, work in English with international clients. Regional depots and smaller networks usually work in French, so confirm the language of your account contact before you sign.

Do logistics companies in France clear customs for imports from the UK or the US?

Yes, several logistics companies in France clear customs for imports from outside the EU: GEODIS and DIMOTRANS offer customs as a core service. Ask who will be the importer of record and make sure you have an EORI number before the first shipment.

Which logistics company in France is best for food and drinks?

The best logistics company in France for food and drinks is, in my opinion, STEF, which specialises in chilled and frozen transport and logistics across Europe. For ambient food in large volumes, FM Logistic is the alternative.

Which logistics company in France is best for a small e-commerce brand?

The best logistics company in France for a small e-commerce brand is, in my opinion, e-LOGIK, a fulfilment network with more than 75 ready connectors for shops and marketplaces. Larger online brands with high volumes should also talk to ID Logistics.

My verdict: which logistics company in France to hire

The right logistics company in France depends on your goods and volumes. For import, customs and nationwide distribution from one group, hire GEODIS. For large warehouses and high-volume e-commerce, hire ID Logistics. For FMCG warehousing and co-packing in France and Central Europe, hire FM Logistic. For chilled and frozen food, hire STEF. For European road groupage, hire Heppner. For a mid-sized forwarder with customs, hire DIMOTRANS. For small e-commerce fulfilment, hire e-LOGIK.

Whichever logistics company in France you choose, settle customs, import VAT and who is the importer of record before the first shipment – they are far easier to agree at the start than at the border.
