Best Logistics Companies in the UK (2026): 8 Companies Reviewed

Since Brexit, goods moving into Great Britain from the EU need customs declarations, and many products now carry import duty and import VAT at the border. This ranking is written for a brand from the US, the EU or the Nordics that needs logistics companies in the UK to clear customs, move freight across the Channel, hold stock in a UK warehouse or fulfil online orders for UK customers. I kept 8 companies and checked each one on Companies House, the UK’s public company register.

Logistics companies in the UK at a glance

If you only have a minute, these are the logistics companies in the UK I would shortlist as a foreign shipper, in the order I would contact them. Each is reviewed below, with its Companies House data on its company profile.

  1. Davies Turner – Independent UK freight forwarder and customs broker with customs warehousing.
  2. Europa Worldwide Group – UK–EU road freight network with air, sea, warehousing and customs.
  3. Woodland Group – Independent forwarder with its own UK and US customs brokerage.
  4. Advanced Supply Chain – Retail fulfilment in bonded UK warehouses, with forwarding and customs in-house.
  5. Unipart – Contract logistics, spare parts and reverse logistics at large scale.
  6. Whistl – E-commerce fulfilment, parcel carrier management and returns.
  7. Zendbox – D2C fulfilment with custom packaging, inside a group that also manufactures.
  8. Huboo – Self-serve e-commerce fulfilment across the UK, the EU and the US.

How I ranked the logistics companies in the UK

I ranked the logistics companies in the UK by quality first, fit for a foreign shipper second and price third:

  • Customs capability – in-house customs brokerage and Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status, which HMRC grants to firms with proven customs controls.
  • Service fit – UK–EU road freight, air and sea forwarding, bonded warehousing, contract logistics or e-commerce fulfilment, and what each company does not do.
  • Track record – years on the market, scale, certifications, awards and named clients.
  • Reviews – none of the eight has usable reviews I could find, so I say so and name the strongest other signal.
  • Registration, ownership and financial standing – I checked each company on Companies House and disclose what I know about who owns it, and where I did not check.

The list includes only UK-incorporated, UK-headquartered firms and excludes UK operations of foreign groups. That is why J&J Global Fulfilment (acquired by the Dutch QLS) and Kammac (part of the Swedish Elanders group) are not here. Team sizes are the companies’ own or published figures.

The 8 best logistics companies in the UK, reviewed

Every logistics company in the UK below gets the same treatment: who they are, what the evidence says, the facts that matter when you sign a contract, and my opinion on who should – and should not – use them.

1. Davies Turner

Independent UK freight forwarder and customs broker with customs warehousing

Davies Turner is a UK freight and logistics group founded in 1870. It covers air, ocean, road and rail freight, customs and excise brokerage and compliance, customs warehousing, pallet storage and fulfilment, freight insurance and specialist sectors such as pharmaceuticals and fine wine. It says it was one of the first Customs Authorised Economic Operators (AEO) in Europe, reports 850 staff across more than 23 UK branches and holds ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 as well as EcoVadis certification. It is an unlisted PLC; four members of the Stephenson family sit on the board, but I did not check who ultimately owns it, and a separate holding company, Davies Turner Holdings PLC, also exists.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews. The strongest signal is its long customs record – an early AEO holder with more than 150 years in UK freight – plus its ISO and EcoVadis certifications.

Facts: founded 1870 · Coleshill (West Midlands) · 850 people · English.

My take: my first call if you need a UK customs broker and forwarder in one, with bonded and customs warehousing behind it, from a firm that is not part of a global network. Best for: US and EU shippers that need UK customs brokerage, forwarding and bonded or customs warehousing from one independent UK firm. Not for: D2C brands that want a self-serve fulfilment app with instant pricing.

2. Europa Worldwide Group

UK–EU road freight network with air, sea, warehousing and customs

Europa Worldwide Group runs European road freight, imports and exports, through its Dartford hub, which links regional UK branches with direct services to continental hubs. It also offers air and sea freight, 3PL fulfilment, pallet storage and bonded warehousing. For post-Brexit trade it launched Europa Flow, a customs product meant to simplify exports to the EU. Trade press reported more than 1,400 people across 30 sites in 2023, and the company has announced turnover of £302m (2023, as reported by trans.info) – a company figure, not one from filed accounts. Trans.info also reports that transport entrepreneur Andrew Baxter took over the business about a decade before; I did not check the register of people with significant control.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews. The strongest signal is the scale of its own UK–EU road network and its dedicated post-Brexit customs product.

Facts: Dartford · 1,400+ people · English.

My take: the one I would brief for regular groupage or full loads between the continent and the UK, with the customs side handled by the same company. Best for: EU manufacturers and brands moving groupage or full loads between the continent and the UK that need customs handled. Not for: small D2C brands that only need parcel-level e-commerce fulfilment.

3. Woodland Group

Independent forwarder with its own UK and US customs brokerage

Woodland Group is an independent freight forwarder and supply chain business offering sea, air, rail and road freight, customs brokerage and contract logistics. It lists 25 locations across the UK, the USA, Asia, mainland Europe and Ireland, including New York since 1991, Hong Kong since 2014 and Shanghai since 2024. It holds UK AEO (2017), Irish AEO (2021) and US CTPAT (2009) accreditation and set up a US customs brokerage division in 2016. Its homepage calls it independent and family-owned; I did not check the register of people with significant control. Its website names no legal entity, so I matched it to Woodland Group Limited on Companies House by name, Essex address and line of business only.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews. The strongest signals are its AEO and CTPAT accreditations, BIFA awards (2006, 2012, 2015 and 2023), a CILT UK top-30 logistics provider listing (2024) and EcoVadis Gold (2023).

Facts: founded 1988 · Maldon (Essex) · English.

My take: the best fit for a US company shipping into the UK or the EU, because it can clear goods on both sides of the Atlantic itself. Best for: US companies shipping into the UK and the EU, or the reverse, that want one independent forwarder with its own US and UK customs brokerage. Not for: pure domestic pallet distribution or small parcel fulfilment.

4. Advanced Supply Chain

Retail fulfilment in bonded UK warehouses, with forwarding and customs in-house

Advanced Supply Chain (ASC) offers B2C fulfilment, B2B picking and packing, quality control, returns management, value-added services, transport and international freight forwarding. Its global freight division holds AEO accreditation and is a BIFA member. It runs its own Vector warehouse management system and cites more than 2 million sq ft of bonded warehousing at four UK sites. Its BRC member profile says it was founded in 1997, moves more than 250 million products a year and employs more than 1,500 people. ASC is part of Reconomy; I did not check who owns Reconomy.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews. The strongest signals are Lacoste as a named client, AEO status for its freight division and the scale of its bonded warehousing.

Facts: founded 1997 · Bradford (Oakenshaw) · 1,500+ people · English.

My take: my pick for a fashion or retail brand that wants to hold stock under bond in the UK and run B2B, B2C and returns from the same warehouse. Best for: international fashion and retail brands that need bonded UK warehousing, B2B and B2C fulfilment and returns, with forwarding and customs in-house. Not for: very small brands with a few hundred orders a month.

5. Unipart

Contract logistics, spare parts and reverse logistics at large scale

Unipart provides supply chain consulting, planning, design and manufacture, transportation and logistics, wholesale and distribution, circular economy services such as returns and repair, and supply chain technology across seven core sectors. It is headquartered in Cowley, Oxford, cites 50 years of heritage and has more than 8,000 colleagues serving the UK and 22 international markets. I did not check who owns the group.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews. The strongest signal is its scale – more than 8,000 colleagues and operations in 22 international markets – and the breadth of its contract logistics and returns services.

Facts: Oxford (Cowley) · 8,000+ people · English.

My take: the heavyweight choice for a large manufacturer or tech brand that wants its UK spare-parts, repair and returns operation run under contract. Best for: large foreign manufacturers and tech or telecom brands that need contract logistics, spare-parts and reverse logistics run in the UK. Not for: small e-commerce brands or one-off freight shipments.

6. Whistl

E-commerce fulfilment, parcel carrier management and returns

Whistl is a UK group with origins in the postal sector that now offers e-commerce, subscription, fashion and B2B fulfilment, returns handling, domestic and international parcel delivery through Parcelhub, and mail services. It reports more than 1.5 million sq ft of warehousing, with sites from Glasgow to Paignton, and more than 6.5 million e-commerce orders a year. In 2025 it acquired Parcelhub and Mail Workshop, and later the Gateshead-based Spark Ecommerce Group. Companies House lists Executive Chairman Nick Wells as a person with significant control holding more than 25% but not more than 50% of the voting rights; I do not know who the other shareholders are.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews. The strongest signal is volume: more than 6.5 million e-commerce orders a year through its own warehouses.

Facts: Marlow · English.

My take: a strong choice for a D2C or subscription brand that wants fulfilment, carrier choice and returns from one UK provider. Best for: foreign D2C and subscription brands entering the UK that want fulfilment, parcel carrier management and returns from one UK provider. Not for: international freight forwarding or customs brokerage as the main need.

7. Zendbox

D2C fulfilment with custom packaging, inside a group that also manufactures

Zendbox offers B2C, D2C and B2B fulfilment, returns management and custom packaging, with integrations for Shopify, Amazon and WooCommerce. Its own software includes Zendportal, Inventory Analysis, Zendtrack and MagicShip. It ships to more than 72 countries and cites more than 3 million orders processed in the last 12 months. It is part of Zendgroup, alongside Zendlabs (manufacturing), Zendpack (packaging) and RunAI CORE (software). The site claims over 10 years in e-commerce, while the company was incorporated in 2019; I did not check any predecessor or who owns the group.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews. The strongest signal is the 3 million orders it says it processed in the last 12 months.

Facts: Paddock Wood (Kent) · English.

My take: interesting for beauty, supplement and FMCG brands that want packaging – and possibly manufacturing – from the same group that ships their orders. Best for: FMCG, beauty and supplement D2C brands from abroad that want UK fulfilment plus packaging from one group. Not for: freight forwarding, customs brokerage or heavy and bulky goods.

8. Huboo

Self-serve e-commerce fulfilment across the UK, the EU and the US

Huboo stores clients’ stock and picks, packs and ships orders, with more than 35 sales-channel integrations and a network covering the UK, the EU and the US. It reports 99.9% verified picking accuracy and prices plans from £1,500 a month. It was founded in 2017 by Martin Bysh and Paul Dodd. According to BusinessCloud, the previous Huboo company became insolvent in December 2024 and the business was rescued through a pre-pack administration backed by BlackRock, Ada Ventures and Atalla Capital; the current company, Huboo Tech Limited, was incorporated on 18 December 2024 and has not filed accounts yet. The team size is the roughly 600 staff reported at the time of the rescue, and the group has since added the parcel-tech platform Sorted.

What clients say. I found no usable reviews: the site says it is highly rated across more than 1,000 reviews but names no platform or score, so I could not verify it. The strongest signal is the product itself – the integrations and published plan prices.

Facts: founded 2017 · Bristol (Severn Beach) · about 600 people · English.

My take: the strongest self-serve product on this list, but I rank it last for counterparty risk: the company is less than two years old and has no filed accounts yet. Best for: EU and US D2C brands that want UK, EU and US fulfilment through a self-serve platform. Not for: buyers who need a long-established counterparty with filed accounts.

Quality, specialisation and what logistics companies in the UK charge

Only one of the logistics companies in the UK in this ranking publishes a price: Huboo, whose fulfilment plans start at £1,500 a month. The others quote per shipment, per pallet or per contract after a briefing, almost always in GBP, so build currency risk into your budget if you report in USD or EUR. Freight, storage, pick-and-pack and customs entries are usually priced separately, so compare full landed costs, not headline rates.

The main choice is between forwarders and customs brokers such as Davies Turner, Europa Worldwide Group and Woodland Group, warehouse and fulfilment specialists such as Advanced Supply Chain, Whistl, Zendbox and Huboo, and a contract logistics group such as Unipart.

How to choose a logistics company in the UK

Choosing a logistics company in the UK starts with what you are moving and who is buying it:

  • Customs and forwarding – if you ship B2B into the UK, you need a customs broker and a forwarder; Davies Turner and Woodland Group do both, and Woodland also clears goods in the US.
  • UK–EU road freight – for regular groupage or full loads across the Channel, Europa Worldwide Group runs its own network through Dartford.
  • Bonded warehousing – holding goods under customs control lets you defer duty until goods leave the warehouse; Advanced Supply Chain, Davies Turner and Europa offer it.
  • E-commerce fulfilment – Whistl, Zendbox and Huboo store stock, ship parcels and handle returns for UK consumers.
  • Contract logistics – for spare parts, repair and returns run under a long contract, Unipart is built for that scale.

Before you sign with a logistics company in the UK, agree who acts as importer of record, whether you need a GB EORI number (you do to import into Great Britain), whether import VAT will be handled through postponed VAT accounting, and who pays duty if goods do not qualify for zero tariffs under the UK–EU trade agreement’s rules of origin. For goods worth £135 or less sold to UK consumers, UK VAT is charged at the point of sale rather than at the border, so marketplace and seller VAT registration matters more than the warehouse.

Three practical points for foreign shippers. VAT on services: since Brexit, UK firms normally invoice B2B services to businesses outside the UK without UK VAT, but services linked to goods (freight, storage, customs) and import VAT on the goods themselves follow their own rules, so ask your accountant how they apply to you. Time zone: GMT/BST overlaps US East Coast mornings and the whole EU working day, which helps when a shipment is stuck at the border. Due diligence: look the company up on Companies House – it is free and shows the status, directors, owners and filed accounts – and check whether it has recently changed hands or been through an insolvency.

Logistics companies in the UK: FAQ

The questions foreign brands ask most before hiring logistics companies in the UK.

Do logistics companies in the UK handle customs clearance for foreign importers?

Yes, several logistics companies in the UK in this ranking handle customs clearance themselves: Davies Turner and Woodland Group act as customs brokers, Europa Worldwide Group has its own post-Brexit customs product, and Advanced Supply Chain has forwarding and customs in-house. You still need a GB EORI number to import into Great Britain.

Which logistics company in the UK is best for e-commerce fulfilment?

The best logistics company in the UK for e-commerce fulfilment is, in my opinion, Whistl for most D2C and subscription brands, because it combines fulfilment, carrier management and returns. Advanced Supply Chain suits larger fashion brands that need bonded stock, and Zendbox suits brands that also want packaging.

Can I check logistics companies in the UK on Companies House?

Yes, you can check logistics companies in the UK for free on Companies House, which shows each company’s status, directors, people with significant control and filed accounts. It also shows when a company was incorporated – Huboo Tech Limited, for example, dates only from December 2024.

How much do logistics companies in the UK charge?

Logistics companies in the UK mostly quote prices per shipment, pallet or contract in GBP, and only Huboo publishes a starting price, from £1,500 a month for fulfilment. Ask every company for a full landed-cost quote that includes freight, customs entries, storage and pick-and-pack.

My verdict: which logistics company in the UK to hire

Choosing among logistics companies in the UK depends on what you ship. For customs brokerage and forwarding with customs warehousing, hire Davies Turner. For UK–EU road freight, hire Europa Worldwide Group. If you ship from the US, hire Woodland Group. For bonded retail fulfilment, hire Advanced Supply Chain. For D2C fulfilment and returns, hire Whistl. For large contract logistics, talk to Unipart.

Whichever logistics company in the UK you choose, settle the importer of record, the Incoterms and the duty and VAT treatment before the first shipment – and check the company on Companies House before you sign. If your goods are for the EU market as well, compare the same list for Poland, where rates are lower.
