Many of the foreign companies I work with set up an S.L. in Spain before they hire anyone there, and the first local partner they need is an accountant who works in English – a gestoría or asesoría that can keep the books, run payroll and file taxes. This ranking is written for a company from the US, the UK, Northern Europe or Poland that needs one of the accounting firms in Spain for its Spanish company or branch. I checked that every firm is registered in Spain and kept 8.

How I ranked the accounting firms in Spain
I ranked the accounting firms in Spain by quality first, fit second and price third:
- Google reviews – Spanish accounting firms rarely collect Clutch reviews, so Google ratings and their number carry the most weight.
- A Spanish firm – every firm is a company registered in Spain, with its tax ID in its legal notice.
- Service for foreign companies – English-speaking advisors and experience with subsidiaries, branches and foreign founders.
- Scope – bookkeeping, payroll, tax filing, company formation and, where needed, legal or VAT representation.
- Size and reach – a single-city boutique or a firm with several offices.
I left out firms whose websites do not show the company behind them and firms that were recently merged into other companies. Prices are rarely published, so price comes into play only when you compare quotes.
The 8 best accounting firms in Spain, reviewed
Every one of the accounting firms in Spain below gets the same treatment: who they are, what clients say, the facts that matter when you hire, and my opinion on who should – and should not – work with them.
1. Lawyers & Accountants
Accounting, tax and legal under one roof for foreign businesses
Lawyers & Accountants (LANDAC), founded in Madrid in 2003, combines lawyers and accountants under one roof for foreign companies setting up in Spain: company formation, accounting, non-resident tax, payroll and employment law. Its website is published in five languages and lists clients such as CH Robinson, MAPFRE, Novomatic and Prosegur.
What clients say. Google: 4.7/5 from 39 reviews. Reviewers, some of them clients for up to nine years, praise an interdisciplinary, highly professional team that responds quickly.
Facts: founded 2003 · Madrid · English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
My take: the most complete one-stop shop among the accounting firms in Spain I reviewed – accounting, tax and legal for a foreign subsidiary from one team. Best for: foreign companies opening a Spanish subsidiary in Madrid. Not for: companies that need offices across Spain.

Multilingual tax, accounting and labour advice since 1996

What accounting firms in Spain charge
Accounting firms in Spain usually charge a fixed monthly fee based on the number of invoices, employees and filings, with separate fees for company formation and the annual accounts. None of the firms in this ranking publishes a full price list; ask for a written offer that covers bookkeeping, quarterly VAT and tax returns, payroll per employee and the annual accounts filed with the Registro Mercantil.
The bigger difference is the type of firm: boutiques such as Accompany Spain or Deventer Consulting suit small companies, payroll specialists such as Rosclar suit subsidiaries with staff, and groups such as Adlanter or Auxadi suit larger and multi-country operations.
How to hire an accounting firm in Spain
When you hire an accounting firm in Spain, check three things: that the advisors who handle your company speak English, who files your quarterly VAT and tax returns with the Agencia Tributaria, and who prepares and files the annual accounts.
A foreign company also needs NIE or NIF numbers for its directors, a Spanish bank account and, for VAT-only registrations, often a fiscal representative. Ask each accounting firm in Spain which of these steps it handles for you.
